Everything you need to answer your questions
Domain NamesA domain is an easy-to-remember name for finding and identifying computers on the Internet.
When you visit a website or send an email, our computer needs to know the location of the server on which the page is stored so we can display the information we want to see (the content of the page).
The domain conceptThe domain concept was created with the intention of facilitating the memorization of computer addresses on the Internet.
Imagine having to memorize a number like 184.108.40.206 (IP address) and insert it into the navigation bar to be able to consult the DNS site and then decorate several other sequences of a number of sites that you use regularly.
It would be a very difficult task and the Web would certainly not have the success it has today. Writing google.com or weasy.io becomes quite intuitive and easy to memorize.
Domain and web hostingThe concept domain with hosting is often confused. However, they are different realities.
The hosting of a website is carried out on a server of its own (web server or HTTP) where the contents of this website are stored and the same contents are available to the computers that request them through a specific communication protocol, the HTTP protocol.
This process is independent of the domain names and access to the contents can be done indicating only the IP address of this web server.
Because the IP address is difficult to remember, the domain name system allows you to name this IP address, a service that is provided by a name server.
But the domain name resolution service is not only used for access to websites. Its use is as vast as the myriad of services on the Internet, namely e-mail, messaging, peer-to-peer, video-broadcasting.
